Getting used to working life!

The first two months have been so busy settling in and getting use to working full time. With working early mornings, and late nights with no daytime naps it’s very different to the student life we have grown to love!

Becky has been learning her role as sales and marketing assistant.

"This is my role for the next twelve months giving me great opportunities to improve and learn different skills. I have also undertaken several projects including the ‘One Stop Wedding Shop’, organising various exhibitions and liasing with local press on marketing schedules."

Lizzie is on a rotation placement and started in the food and beverage department.

"I have learned all the different aspects of service from breakfast through to dinner, in Richardson’s restaurant, the Garden Room and the Minster Suite for weddings. Last week I was in the housekeeping department during a busy period and it was interesting to see the business from a different view. Next stop... the sales office!"

We went on a First Aid training course with the British Red Cross up at our sister hotel Longhirst Hall. This training was very worthwhile and informative but still enjoyable and gave us all a great laugh at the same time. From Burn Hall, Darrel (Sous Chef) and Alex (Junior DM) and ourselves attended and there were also some others from Longhirst too.

An introduction to Becky & Lizzie

Hi!

I'm Becky and I'm studying Events Management at the University of Gloucestershire and I'm Lizzie, currently studying a BSc in Hospitality Business Management with Conference and Events. We started our placements at Burn Hall this month and are looking forward to gaining experience working within the industry.

We both will be doing a monthly blog to keep you up to date with what is happening during our time here on our placements! So we hope you all enjoy reading!
